On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, Flicka appeared on the CTV News Channel!
During the interview, I discussed how Flicka helps me manage my post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which arises as a result of Andrew’s childhood sexual abuse experiences, and I also shared my thoughts on a police therapy dog that is being used in a current court case in Calgary, Alberta to assist young two children who are giving evidence that alleges that they were sexually abused by their father.
This interview was the first time that I have ever publicly disclosed to the media that my post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) arises as a result of the sexual abuse I endured in my childhood. It was a big step for me to share that information, and, after having shared the information, I am not filled with any regret for having done so. I think this is a very positive sign and another indicator that my recovery is progressing well.
