We have much to be thankful for this year, and we would like to sincerely thank all of our supporters.  In particular, we would like to thank the wonderful staff at National Service Dogs, Flicka’s puppy raiser, Flicka’s advanced training home raiser, and Flicka’s new friends and family.

I am especially thankful for my amazing spouse and my delightful son.  Thank you for your unwavering support of Flicka.  She’s made a great addition to our family.

Flicka struck by a car

I wish I was joking.  Sadly, I’m not.  Thankfully, Flicka appears to be okay!

This morning, Flicka and I were out for an exercise walk.  We were walking on the sidewalk.  As we were crossing a minor road, at the pedestrian crossover, we were struck by a car.  The car had been stopped at a stop sign on the minor road that ran perpendicular to the main road that we were walking parallel to but the driver of the car decided to proceed through the stop sign and turn onto the main road once Flicka and I were immediately in front of her car!

Flicka excluded from birthday party invitation

Earlier today, I received a message from an acquaintance inviting my partner and I to a birthday party.  It was very nice to receive an invitation from this person.  What wasn’t so nice was being told “It would be awesome if you guys could attend. Only one slight issue is that due to the number of people and a few that are somewhat uncomfortable around dogs, I don’t that it’s a good idea for Flicka to come.  I am hoping this is okay, certainly no disrespect or harm meant. I really hope you guys can make it, as it would mean a lot to both of us.”

Canadian Opera Company & National Ballet of Canada

After meeting the Dragons and before going to New York City, Flicka walked by The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.  This centre is the home of the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada.

I wonder, if Flicka was given a choice, would she prefer to go to the opera or the ballet?  My gut tells me she’d likely prefer the ballet because she’ll enjoy the ballet tutu and want to put one on.  Flicka likes to dress up like a princess, as evidenced by the below photo her puppy raiser provided to me.

New York, New York in Toronto!

After meeting several of the Dragons from CBC’s show “The Dragons Den” earlier this evening, Flicka stumbled upon a film set for USA Network’s show “Suits” on her way into the subway.  Parked in front of the subway entrance was a New York City-branded police car and taxi.  I couldn’t resist the opportunity to take some photos because it’s not every day a Canadian sidewalk is transformed into New York City.

The show “Suits” is about a fictional law firm.  Ironically, the building located directly behind the police car in the above photos is the Ontario Superior Court of Justice located at 361 University Avenue in Toronto.  The vehicles were also ironically parked just south of the Consulate General of the United States.

Adventures at Costco

Flicka and I journeyed to Costco this evening.  The Costco location that I primary shop at is really good with Flicka, and they treat her well.

While at Costco, I returned some of her unopened “high value” treats because she’s now on a new weight management program.

Whenever I go to Costco, I’m always drawn to their book/CD/DVD aisle.  Every time!  Unfortunately, tonight was no different.  :-(
